Job Summary

The Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre (IRSHDC) at the University of British Columbia provides access for former Indian Residential School System (IRS) students, their families and communities to records of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, information based in those records and other sources, for education and public information and supports research and dialogue about IRS history and its legacies.

IRSHDC brings together UBC researchers and educators with community-based experts to address key questions that underline socio-economic development, health and sustainability of Indigenous communities in British Columbia and across the country.

Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Communications Coordinator is responsible for implementing communications strategies through the Centre's social media platforms, website and newsletter in order to amplify and support the work and activities of the Centre.

This role helps to provide critical information about the Centre and its work, as well as related topics, to its key audiences and partners, including residential school Survivors and intergenerational Survivors, Indigenous communities, UBC students, staff and faculty, partner organizations, the media and the general public.
