    JOB OVERVIEW

    Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is looking for a dynamic, strategic, and results-driven professional to join our team in the role of Senior ServiceNow IT Hardware Analyst (CMDB).

    Reporting to the Senior Manager, IT Services, this position is responsible for managing hardware assets, including procurement, inventory management, and disposal processes. The role requires proficiency in Configuration Management Database (CMDB) principles and practices, including data modeling, relationship mapping, and data normalization. The successful candidate will utilize CMDB discovery tools and techniques to identify and collect hardware asset information accurately and possess experience and knowledge of Hardware Asset Management (HAM) in ServiceNow.

    Key responsibilities also include interfacing with various hardware vendors, maintaining current hardware technology standards at OPG, and performing all related administrative activities to maintain efficient day-to-day operations. This involves developing and maintaining accurate records and inventories of hardware assets, including tracking, cataloging, associated costs, and updating inventory databases. Additionally, the role includes approving requests for assets, updating CMDB records, running discovery of hardware and software assets, and analyzing and reporting on the data.

    The position requires knowledge of negotiating and managing relationships with vendors for procurement, licensing, and maintenance agreements, and understanding the full lifecycle of hardware assets from procurement to disposal or repurposing. The candidate will work with the extended teams in evaluating, selecting, and procuring hardware assets, considering cost, quality, and compatibility with existing systems. Conducting audits and assessments to ensure compliance and accuracy in asset records, identifying discrepancies, and implementing corrective actions are also part of the role.

    The successful candidate will use tools such as Excel, ServiceNow, Discovery, SharePoint, and BI Reporting to generate reports and analyze data related to asset utilization, costs, and performance for decision-making, strategic planning, and forecasting. Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles and best practices in asset management processes is essential.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

    EDUCATION

    • Requires a four-year university degree in computer science, or by having the equivalent level of education.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • A period of over 6 years and up to and including 8 years in roles related to Hardware Asset Management, CMDB practices, and IT service delivery.
    • Requires knowledge of hardware asset management, including procurement, inventory management, and disposal processes.
    • Requires proficiency in Configuration Management Database (CMDB) principles and practices, including data modeling, relationship mapping, and data normalization.
    • Requires experience with CMDB discovery tools and techniques to identify and collect hardware asset information accurately.
    • Requires knowledge of Hardware Asset Management (HAM) in ServiceNow.
    • Requires familiarity with interfacing with hardware vendors and managing relationships for procurement, licensing, and maintenance agreements.
    • Requires understanding of the full lifecycle of hardware assets, from procurement to disposal or repurposing, including asset retirement and disposal processes.
    • Requires good verbal and written communication skills to provide guidance to users, participate in, and deliver demonstrations of new hardware, software, equipment, and operational procedures.
    • Requires experience in performing administrative activities to maintain efficient day-to-day operations and developing and maintaining accurate records, inventories, and systems.
    • Requires knowledge of ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) principles and best practices in asset management processes.
    • Requires experience in using tools such as Excel, ServiceNow, Discovery, SharePoint, and BI Reporting to generate reports and analyze data related to asset utilization, costs, and performance for decision-making, strategic planning, and forecasting.
    • Requires knowledge of computer science to gain an appreciation of design concepts related to computing equipment and software, to provide computerized solutions to varying OPG requirements.
    • Requires good verbal and written communications skills, to coordinate the needs of clients, suppliers, and divisional staff.
    • Requires experience to obtain knowledge of the clients' organizations, functions of the application systems, databases, products, computers, communications, and associated equipment.
    • Requires additional experience to operate at a senior level, and to become familiar with responsibilities related to project leadership.
    • Requires experience to perform an advisory function to the line of business, to be able to define clients' information technology requirements and advise regarding the selection and application of computer systems and equipment.
    • Requires experience to understand new and existing information processing concepts, computer and communications equipment, and software.
