About the Role - How You Will Contribute to the Service:

The Halton Regional Police Service is seeking a
Full-Time Corporate Communications Specialist to play a critical role in implementing and monitoring communications and marketing strategies and tools for the Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS).

This role provides public relations and communication support to promote and enhance the image of the HRPS.

Acts as a resource to members of the Unit in the areas of communications, social media and social media monitoring, graphic content and visual design, and presentation development.

Organizes special events and special projects related to HRPS communications initiatives.


What You Will Bring to the Role:


Education, Certifications and Qualifications:


  • Minimum of one year of experience in a related role.
  • Postsecondary education in public relations, journalism, marketing, communications or an equivalent program.

Here's What You'll Get to Do:

  • Support the development and implementation of communication and marketing strategies that enhance the HRPS corporate image.
  • Ensure that strategies support a consistent message and key theme.
  • Ensure that all HRPS communications are consistent with developed standards and practices for internal and external communications.
  • Develop graphic content and external messaging for strategic education and enforcement campaigns, and special events.
  • Develop communications and promotional materials, including proactive media releases and bulletins, posters, fact sheets, advertisements, and presentations.
  • Ensure that a standardized and consistent visual image and identity is used in all corporate communications materials.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage existing social media platforms. Includes designing new graphic digital content in support of the Service's social media and broader corporate communications initiatives.
  • Support different bureaus and areas across the Service in managing social media and developing graphic content, including promotional material and presentations.
  • Assist with social media training, if required.
  • Proactively monitor and scan media (including traditional and social media) to identify relevant incidents, media touch points, trends or potential stories for the Unit to address, resolve or develop narratives.
  • Generate campaign and Unit performance reports and evaluate the impact of targeted information on internal and external audiences.
  • Provide photographic support to the Unit and across the Service.
  • Support the execution of internal and external special events and special projects related to corporate and departmental communication initiatives.

The successful applicant will need to pass a background check to the satisfaction of the Service which will include reference checks with previous employers, verification of educational achievements, and a criminal background screen.

This position is based out of our Oakville Headquarters facility, which is located at the QEW and North Service Road West.

The role has core working hours of 35 hours per week (Monday - Friday).

However, the role will require flexibility with respect to hours of work and may be called upon to provide services and expertise outside of core business hours.


Compensation:
The annual salary range for this role is
$70,058-$76,988.
