"General Accountability:
- Conducts customer, employee and marketing research projects and tasks, and assesses, analyses and interprets data gathered from fieldwork to prepare presentations/reports used by Department management, Heads and leaders of key business areas. To fulfill this work the role oversees the work of the contracted suppliers, and staff and ensures all deliverables are met.
Key Job Functions:
- Conduct research to improve TTC's understanding of key customer issues, transit and market trends, to identify preferences, key issues, opportunities for improvements and new business opportunities.
- Perform analysis of research results to develop conclusions and recommendations.
- Identifies new technology opportunities to connect with customers through innovation, understand needs, travel patterns, and preferences.
- Performs market scans and seeks benchmarks, case studies from other transit agencies locally and internationally to learn from others.
- Manages Customers Research pipeline for TTC, and TTC Customer Panel, supporting cross functional organization research needs,
- Document research analysis, reports, and presentations for use in addressing new issues, cross validating new research findings and providing information to other internal departments, overseeing various studies conducted both internally and externally and ensure quality control and other specifications are met.
- Oversees the development of the monthly CEO Report and key organizational metrics. Identifying key operational areas of success and improvement. Develops research needs informed by CEO Report results, Customer Satisfaction results, environmental Changes, and special projects.
- Develops management and Executive level presentation of research results and insights.
- Transit advocate understanding the value proposition of quality public transit for communities.
- Lead contractor and staff through successful research initiatives.
- Promotes a respectful work and service environment that supports diversity, inclusion, and is free from harassment and discrimination. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of inclusive and accessible policies, programs and/or services for employees and customers in accordance with TTC's commitments and obligations under the Ontario Human Rights Code (OHRC) and Related Orders, the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA), and TTC's policies.

Education and Experience: - Completion of a university degree or Masters degree in a related discipline or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
- Requires an indepth knowledge of research methodology, techniques and the development of research tools.
- Ability to collect and analyze data, utilizing techniques such as surveys, focus groups, fieldwork, etc.
- Skilled in the development and maintenance of databases.
- Ability to effectively manage outside suppliers.
- Demonstrated ability to manage special studies, analyze and evaluate complex issues, conduct market research and prepare reports and presentations.
- Must possess welldeveloped analytical, organizational, interpersonal, oral communication, presentation and report writing skills.
- These skills and knowledge would normally be acquired through the completion of a Post graduate degree, Masters level or equivalent in Marketing, Urban Transportation or Behavioural Research. Combined with several years of directly related work experience.
- Must possess leadership and organizational ability in coordinating the efforts of outside contractors towards meeting established contract requirements.
The TTC's policy prohibits relatives of current TTC employees from being hired, assigned, transferred or promoted into positions, where there is a conflict of interest due to a relationship.
