Your Opportunity:

This is a multisite position for Alberta Hospital Edmonton and Fort Saskatchewan Hospital Laboratories.

Working along with other Health Care Professionals, you will provide Laboratory support to the community of Fort Saskatchewan and Alberta Hospital Edmonton.

The primary responsibilities include phlebotomy for adults, children and infants using both macro and micro techniques, accessioning patient specimens, troubleshooting problem specimens, performing ECGs and reception duties.

This position includes being on call regularly with the ability to respond to calls within 30 minutes. Alberta Hospital Edmonton is comprised of several buildings requiring walking distances daily.

As a Medical Laboratory Assistant I, you will provide high quality service to clients of the clinical laboratory in an effective, efficient and safe manner.

You will be responsible for a variety of laboratory functions including procurement, handling, processing, dispatching and testing of specimens, performing procedures and reporting results.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Recent experience in Epic Beaker, phlebotomy and ECGs.


Preferred Qualifications:

Non Violent Crisis Intervention training within the first 30 days of hire.
