- Manage and supervise a team of dispatchers, ensuring their productivity and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Address any issues or delays in delivery or service and implement solutions to mitigate future occurrences.
- Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including delivery schedules, vehicle maintenance, and customer interactions.
- Evaluate performance metrics and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and reduce costs.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and safety standards, DOT/MTO guidelines.
- Train and mentor dispatch staff to enhance their skills and knowledge.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and other stakeholders.
- Handle escalated customer inquiries or complaints in a professional and timely manner.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements related to dispatch activities.
- Create weekly/monthly schedules for highway and city drivers.
- Analyze highway lanes to maximize profitability and plan trucks accordingly.
- Coordinate with the dispatch team to manage driver hours and downtime.
- Identify opportunities with customers, generate leads, and develop quotes to win lanes.
- Monitor fleet telematics, Load Link, and Border Connect and ensure rates are updated in the system promptly or/as instructed.
- Work hand in hand with ASL's partner companies to generate additional lanes to increase fleet volumes.
- Work closely with Safety and Compliance Supervisor/Manager to ensure a safe driver fleet for ASL.
- Perform operational analysis and recommend modifications to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
- Must have 5 years of Dispatch Manager experience.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field (preferred).
- Proven experience in dispatch operations, logistics, or transportation management.
- Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Must have experience managing an asset fleet dispatch department, with 50 plus trucks and 125 plus trailers, dry vans, reefers, tandem, /tri/quads.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer systems and dispatch software.
- Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
