Since launching in 2009, Independent Mechanical Supply (IMS) has become GTA contractors' preferred distributor of plumbing, hydronics, and PVF products.

During the period of this 14-month contract, the People and Culture Manager will play a vital role in supporting the human resources function within the organization.

This hands-on position will involve various HR related administrative tasks, recruitment and selection, managing employee life cycle changes, and providing full cycle HR support and guidance to managers and employees.

The incumbent should have a strong attention to detail, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.


Responsibilities:


Strategic HR Management:


  • Support the development and implementation of HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
  • Manage the performance appraisal system that drives high performance.

Recruitment and Hiring:


  • Manage the recruitment and selection process to attract, hire, and retain top talent.
  • Assist with posting job advertisements and maintaining job boards.
  • Screen resumes and conduct initial screenings/interviews.
  • Schedule interviews and coordinate interview logistics.
  • Assist with drafting offer letters and employment contracts.

Onboarding and Offboarding:


  • Manage new hire onboarding activities, including paperwork, orientation sessions, and training schedules.
  • Conduct exit interviews and process necessary documentation for departing employees.

HR Administration and Support:


  • Maintain accurate and uptodate employee records and ensure compliance with relevant data protection and privacy regulations.
  • Prepare HRrelated correspondence, memos, and reports.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and provide general HR support.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.

Organization Culture and Engagement:


  • Actively promote and contribute to a positive and inclusive company culture.
  • Support initiatives that reinforce the company's core values and enhance employee morale and job satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the HR team to develop and implement engagement programs, such as recognition and rewards programs, employee surveys, and teambuilding activities.

Compliance and Training:


  • Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
  • Stay updated on changes in labor legislation and ensure HR policies are updated accordingly.

Competency Profile

Mandatory Requirements

  • CHRP or CHRL Designation (preferred)
  • 2 to 5 years' experience with hands on Human Resources management
  • Proven ability to stay organized in a fast paced and complex environment
  • Able to handle confidential information sensitively and responsibly
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneous
  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Outlook, Excel and Word
  • Ability to write and edit business communication and documents
  • Experience suggesting and implementing changes to processes and procedure
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent Written and oral communication skills
  • Established history of demonstrating the ability to pay attention to detail
Nice to Have

  • Experience with Ceridian Dayforce
  • Experience with and/or knowledge of plumbing & heating products sold by wholesale plumbing distributors.
