The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) is a regulatory agency that reports to the Ministry of the Attorney General.

The AGCO is responsible for regulating the alcohol, gaming (online, casino, lottery, and charitable gaming), horse racing, and cannabis sectors in Ontario, in accordance with the principles of honesty and integrity, and in the public interest.

As an iGaming Compliance Assurance Specialist (Risk and Regulatory Control Stream), you will be responsible for assessing iGaming operators' controls and risk mitigation measures across a variety of priority compliance areas to uncover weaknesses and areas for improvement.

The incumbent synthesizes sector-level risk information with entity-level information to target potential areas of non-compliance.

You will serve as a team advisor for risk and regulatory control and conduct compliance assurance and enforcement activities across multiple igaming operators and igaming sites.

As a team member, you will contribute to the team's culture, centered on accountability and trust, and embrace team diversity.


  • Act as a key member of AGCO's modern compliance strategy by effectively assessing regulatory risk to target potential areas of noncompliance.
  • Assess operators' controls and risk mitigation measures for sector and entitylevel risks.
  • Use risk analysis to develop entitylevel compliance activity plans aimed at reducing risk and promoting compliance with standards and requirements.
  • Execute compliance assurance activities in respect of AGCO's regulatory standards and requirements, drawing from a broad scope of knowledge and experience with a variety of compliance techniques, employed appropriately for differing circumstances.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement by proactively identifying issues and situations that require attention and engaging to resolve them.
  • Embrace a clientcentered approach when interacting with external stakeholders to ensure expectations are understood and compliance is met.
  • Establish and develop strong trustbased relationships with peers throughout the organization.
  • Work collaboratively within a crossfunctional team to tackle complex compliance challenges.
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the igaming compliance team's processes and compliance tools.
  • A Bachelor's degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant work experience and education.
  • A strong background in risk and control environments and effective risk management structures.
  • Knowledge and experience assessing control and risk mitigation measures, independently performing riskbased compliance reviews, and the ability to serve as a specialist for the activities within this area.
  • Knowledge and experience in inspections and evidence collection.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
  • An investigative mindset and good judgment to make sound decisions and to know when to escalate to others.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management.
  • Ability to work both independently with little supervision and within a team environment.
  • Willingness to learn other aspects of the igaming industry and other specialist streams. Demonstrated relationship management skills with a proven ability to influence.
  • Knowledge of AGCO regulatory environment and the global igaming industry will be an asset.
  • Professional designation and/or certification in a related field such as CRISC and CRCMP would be an asset.
