Registered Social Worker or Psychotherapist

Independent Contractor

Central Ontario


In collaboration with the Ministry of the Solicitor General, we are seeking a registered social workers or psychotherapists with experience supporting marginalized clients dealing with complex life challenges including mental health, addictions, social exclusion, and involvement with the justice system.


The Opportunity:

  • Contract opportunities providing inperson counselling to assigned cases referred by the Ministry of the Solicitor General, in a probation and parole office.

Vacancies in the following offices:

  • Orillia: 1 Day/Biweekly (4 hours)
Midland: 1 Day/Bi-weekly (4 hours)

Alliston: 1 Day/ Month (7 hours)

  • Our Gov't Services Counsellors:
  • Support mandated clients by providing medium-term counselling to assigned cases;-
  • Communicate on clients' behalf, with express consent, with external professionals;-
  • Follow the Government Counselling Services client services model and administrative requirements;-
  • Meet the company's contractual obligations to the Ministry of the Solicitor General, Ontario
  • What we're looking for:
  • Master's degree in Counselling, Psychology or Social Work or related field;
  • Professional College membership in Ontario and valid professional liability insurance;
  • Minimum two (2) years postgraduate experience delivering cognitive behavioural therapy, preferably in a Justice sector;
  • Ability to work with various types of clients presenting a wide variety of issues and good knowledge of local community resources;
  • Strong clinical assessment skills with ability to promote community adaptation and integration;
  • Ability to set short term objectives and work from a strengthbased model;
  • Confident and capable to work with clients who are mandated to attend programming and who may be resistant to counselling;
