About you and this role:
Dow has an exciting opportunity for a Construction Security Manager located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada. This role will also involve periodic travel to Prentiss, Alberta, Canada.

The Construction Security Manager will support the Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero program. The Fort Saskatchewan Path2Zero program will create the first net-zero emissions site of its kind in the world. The FS P2Z program is a key enabler to Dow's Decarbonization strategy.

Following the expectations set by the Path2Zero Construction Safety Director, the Security Manager has the responsibility for the implementation of the ES&S management system to ensure business / program / project objectives are met and the license to construct is maintained.

This role reports administratively to the Alberta Operations ES&S Delivery Leader and functionally to the Path2Zero Construction Safety Director.

This job supports all projects and is expected to last the duration of Path2Zero Phase 1.


Responsibilities:


  • Supports ongoing local implementation of the ES&S Work Processes.
  • Ensures ongoing local systems and networks are established to support the ES&S Work Processes.
  • Oversees compliance with the Work Processes.
  • Maintains effective communication with all local stakeholders.
  • Helps to remove local barriers to effective implementation and functioning of the Work Processes.
  • Ensures Work Process training is in place.
  • Ensures an effective interface with other Work Processes.
  • Provides feedback regarding any discrepancies to the proper step in the site ES&S Preparedness Plan.
  • Enacts emergency response plans.
  • Executes the applicable scenarios from the emergency response plan or the alternate response plan and use operating discipline to complete the response to the emergency.
  • Works with all security personnel in the preparation of secure asset plans and the development of operating discipline to execute secure asset tasks.

  • Ability to transmit knowledge (teaching, coaching, communicating, documenting) as well as model and instill commitment, passion, and culture change behaviors. Must be effective at organizational management, specifically leading, mentoring, coaching, and developing ES&S talent.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and optimize strategic improvement plans.
  • Active change agent.
  • Proficient with information technology.
  • Understands, uses, and supports global work processes and tools.
  • Focused on adding value for the Path2Zero Program and Dow.
  • Ability to influence and change critical behaviors to drive EH&S excellence.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of Short-Cycle Tertiary Degree (i.e. associate degree) in related field OR relevant military experience (at or above a U.S. E4 ranking OR Canadian Petty Officer 2nd Class ranking) OR in lieu of degree, 15 equivalent years of experience required.
  • A minimum of 10 years experience in Emergency Services and Security, EH&S, manufacturing, construction or other related field is required.
  • Must be willing and able to meet all applicable requirements related to business travel (e.g., as to immigration and visa rules, publichealth mandates, airline rules, etc.) into and out of (and physical presence in) various countries worldwide.
  • A minimum requirement for this Canada based position is the ability to work legally in Canada. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position.
