As a publicly funded, non-profit organization, Legal Aid Alberta provides affordable legal services in various areas including family law, domestic violence, child welfare, immigration, and youth and adult criminal defense.

With a province-wide presence, a team of 300 staff, and 1,200 private practice lawyers, we assist individuals in over 75 communities across Alberta.

If you excel in communication, particularly during challenging situations and interactions with individuals who may have differing opinions or questions, we want you on our team.

We are seeking an enthusiastic individual with a strong business sense, capable of supporting teams through periods of change. You must possess the ability to motivate and influence others, think strategically, offer valuable feedback, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills are essential. Additionally, you should have a passion for learning, adaptability to change, and a genuine concern for the success of your team, clients, and the organization.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the business and financial connections within the Legal Services group and the larger organization by leading or supporting new initiatives and change management activities.
  • Refine and implement a contribution and quality management framework for employees in the legal services group.
  • Participate in shaping strategic direction, business plans, and departmental strategies.
  • Collaborate with other departments to identify trends and recommend actions related to business unit initiatives.
  • Provide training and support to staff, assist in workload monitoring, and promote operational best practices.
  • Plan, organize, multitask, and prioritize tasks efficiently under minimal supervision.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:
  • Minimum diploma in Business, Finance, Accounting, Operations or related field.
  • At least five (5) years of leadership or business experience focusing on significant change and operations performance management.
  • Minimum of 2 years in business analytics and financial analysis.
  • Background in project management is a plus.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in Change Management practices and strategies.
  • Familiarity with Legal Services functions considered advantageous.
  • Basic knowledge of project management and organizational finance.
  • Strong tech skills with enthusiasm for learning new systems and software.
  • Effective negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, tailored to various audiences.
  • Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Keen on continuous improvement and adept at change management.
