ROLE IMPACT


This is a meaningful role where you can make a difference every day for people living with inflammatory bowel diseases (IDB).


You will achieve impact by:

  • Coaching and supporting internal staff on best practices to engage volunteer that they partner with;
  • Streamlining the volunteer engagement cycle to ensure smooth and meaningful experiences for Crohn's and Colitis volunteers across Canada;
  • Ensuring the volunteer database is up to date and using data to further improve the efficacy of volunteer recruiting and engagement.
This is an internal support role and will rarely interact with volunteers directly.

You will be developing volunteer engagement resources for internal staff and advising internal staff to fulfill the volunteer engagement cycle.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2+ years experience in a volunteer engagement role either engaging volunteers directly, or supporting others with resources and best practices to engage volunteers;
  • Experience coordinating projects creating resources (e.g. job aids), and leading training sessions;
  • Knowledge, through education or professional experience, of best practices in volunteer engagement and the volunteer engagement cycle;
  • Strong data analysis skills and familiarity with Raiser's Edge, Mentimeter, JotForms or willingness to learn;
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with public speaking;
  • Exceptional time management skills; ability to coordinate multiple high priority items within tight deadlines;
  • Excellent relationship building ability and strong communication skills; able to adapt communication style for various audiences;
  • Experience coordinating small events or conferences considered an asset; and
  • Open to flexible hours with evenings and the occasional weekend events.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Onboard, support and coach fellow staff on volunteer engagement best practices and volunteer lifecycle, utilizing training sessions and 1:1 conversation.
  • Develop volunteer engagement resources to enhance staff knowledge across the volunteer engagement cycle and strengthen consistency in the volunteer experience across the organization.
  • Coordinate and continually improve the volunteer onboarding process, including uploading onboarding documents, updating the Volunteer Handbook and welcome materials, and tracking the onboarding progress of new volunteers.
  • Coordinate maintenance annual Volunteer Awards and other volunteer recognition initiatives to help drive volunteer engagement within the organization.
  • Lead the volunteer recordkeeping process in Raiser's Edge (RE) including updating the RE manual and collaborating with the Database Team to improve efficiencies and address gaps.
  • Coordinate maintenance and cleanup volunteer records in Raiser's Edge including compiling data in spreadsheets where required.
  • Track, analyze, and report on volunteer engagement statistics to demonstrate gaps and/or impact and share as needed.
