The goal of the Recovery Coach will be to support individuals accessing Radius programs through their recovery process by providing client focused, recovery based and culturally appropriate assessment, treatment, case management, crisis intervention, education, and referral services.

The Recovery Coach will orient and motivate clients to access appropriate mental health, physical health, substance use, life skill, and other supportive daily functioning services to promote autonomy, health, and improved quality of life.

Key Responsibilities_**- Meet clients where they are at in their recovery process and help create individualized recovery plans as well helping clients to overcome barriers that may be preventing their recovery.


  • Help clients to build motivation to accomplish goals; also monitor and evaluate client progress and achievement of goals and adapt plan as needed.
  • Develop working relationships with a network of community stabilization service providers in the fields of housing, health, mental health, and substance abuse.
  • Work collaboratively with other health and service providers and provide referrals and warm hand offs as appropriate.
  • Provide followup services and care as needed.

Qualifications_**- Registration with Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW) is preferred.

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support
  • Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP)
  • Standard First Aid training
  • Mandatory vulnerable sector check and suitable criminal record check
  • Mandatory experience with marginalized populations (e.g. homeless serving sector, social service agencies)
  • Certificate from a Recovery Coach program is an asset.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset.
  • Mental Health First Aid and Applied Suicide Intervention Training are considered an asset.

Skills and Competencies_**- A certificate from a Recovery Coach program or a willingness to work towards

certification.

  • Lived experience considered an asset.
  • Excellent relationship building skills for use with clients, colleagues, and community agencies.
  • Able to balance numerous demands and conflicting priorities, strong problemsolving skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to demonstrate patience and understanding for those with addictions and behavioral disorders.
  • Strong computer proficiency, with experience with Office 365 suite (e.g. Outlook, MS Office, Excel) an asset
  • Prior experience with electronic medical record (EMR) system an asset (e.g. MedAccess)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Has a good understanding of traumainformed care, and must be able to operate within a harm reduction model of care
  • Understanding of cultural awareness
