KD Mechanical Consultants is looking for an experienced
Mechanical Project Manager to join their team in Abbotsford, BC This position plays a key role in designing mechanical systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings to deliver energy-saving, safe, and cost-effective solutions to clients.
Responsibilities:
- Review shop drawings, codes and obtain preliminary approvals where appropriate.
- Adhere to the development of quality products and service standards for KD Mechanical and ensure compliance.
- Oversee the project life cycle from preliminary design through to project turnover.
- Participate in predesign meetings with clients to provide timely input on anticipated mechanical schemes.
- As required, perform mechanical engineering design and construction services on projects encompassing, but not limited to, the following:
- Prepare calculation and perform design requirements for Building Permit/Tender/Construction contract documents.
- Coordinate mechanical designs and documents with other disciplines.
- During the construction phase of the project prepare site instructions, proposed change notices, review shop drawings, conduct site reviews, and attend site meetings as required or delegate to a project manager.
- Perform peer review of contract documents for completeness before issuance for Building Permit/Tender/Construction.
- Ensure a schedule of tasks are done for each project and that projects are completed within budgeted hours.
- Develop, maintain, and manage relationships with clients, industry leaders, architects, engineers, contractors, etc.
- Limited responsibility for the preparation of fee proposals for mechanicalrelated aspects of a project.
- Coordinate with other disciplines including but not limited to architects, interior designers, mechanical engineers, structural engineers, etc.
- Provide feedback to management on areas of improvement
- Keep apprised of industry and technical trends
- Mentor and coach juniorlevel KD Mechanical employees.
Qualifications:
- 5 + experience in a building design consulting firm
- Post Secondary education in Mechanical, Technology or Similar Engineering
- Registered with EGBC or ASTTBC would be an asset
- Ability to read Architectural, Structural, Electrical and Civil drawings with mínimal supervision.
- Solid understanding of building science, heat transfer, thermodynamics and airflow fundamentals.
- Solid knowledge of NFPA, NECB and ASHRAE standards, local building code and plumbing code.
- Operating knowledge of AutoCAD is required, Revit would be an asset.
- Working knowledge of cooling calculation programs such as HAP or Trace700 is required.
- Experience in energy modelling and load calculation programs such as EE4, ComCheck, HAP, HOT2000, eQuest, DesignBuilder, OpenStudio, EnergyPlus, and/or PHPP is an asset.
