PHS Community Services Society (PHS) is hiring a Mental Health Workers

SOCIETY PHILOSOPHY
PHS Community Services Society provides housing, harm reduction, health promotion and health care to vulnerable communities.

Our supportive housing and low barrier programs provide refuge, services and advocacy for those who are homeless or poorly served elsewhere due to their physical health, mental health, behaviour, substance use, or involvement with the criminal justice system.

Our work is grounded in honouring self-determination and providing as much choice of therapeutic treatments as possible within a trauma-informed continuum of care.

Responsibilities for the role include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing harm reduction, support, housing services, and advocacy for our residents and others who are under-served in our community.
  • Safety and security measures
  • General cleaning duties for the project or program
  • Crisis intervention/deescalation

Education and experience required:


  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is required.
  • Experience working with marginalized populations an asset.
  • Must bring a nonjudgmental, compassionate and antioppressive, harm reduction approach.
  • Class 5 Driver's License is a preferred asset.
  • All employees of PHS must consent to a criminal record check

Starting Wage - $26.42/hour - additional weekend and overnight premiums applied to eligible shifts. Flexible scheduling, variety of available shifts. On-site paid training, opportunities for growth.


To comply with current Public Health Orders, certain projects require employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 or have an approved medical exemption.

Proof of vaccination status will be required for successful applicants.

Part-time hours: 22-33 per week
