Course Description:
Jazz History II begins in the 1960s with the music that ushered in the modern era of jazz (Miles Davis Quintet, free/avant-garde, jazz-rock).
It explores the myriad paths and styles that have been incorporated by jazz musicians of the past fifty years, up to the present day.

Fridays 1-3pm in the Winter Term

Qualifications:
Graduate degree in jazz, musicology, ethnomusicology, or related field with preference for completed Ph.
D. Extensive knowledge of jazz history, including composers, performers, and repertoire.
Extensive knowledge of the social contexts of jazz history and of current approaches to the study of race, gender, and identity in musical traditions, especially jazz.
Demonstrated excellence teaching jazz history at the post-secondary level.Duties:
Define course objectives; prepare course materials; provide clear guidelines on course requirements and regulations; teach classes as scheduled; administer and evaluate student assignments; prepare and submit final grade in accordance with policy.
Maintain reasonable hours of student consultation outside scheduled class hours.Closing Date: 06/23/2023
