Term Assistant Professor, Division of Infectious Diseases – Infectious diseases with a special focus on HIV, Hepatitis C, and STBBI research
The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan's invite applications from qualified individuals for a three-year term position as Assistant Professor with a specific emphasis on Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV), Hepatitis C, and Sexually Transmitted and Blood Borne Infections (STBBI) research, particularly within Indigenous communities and populations. The successful candidate will lead and contribute to research initiatives that fit well with clinical work in the Division of Infectious Diseases and the Department of Medicine, engaging in various research methodologies including clinical trials, population-based research, and community-based research. The successful candidate will be involved with teaching, supervising, and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students, develop an independent research program, and contribute to service activities within the division and the wider scholarly community. Candidates with interdisciplinary, collaborative research programs are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities include contributing to the research presence of the Division of Infectious Diseases by conducting implementation science and translational research, supervising student research, developing an externally funded research program, teaching courses, mentoring students, participating in departmental and university service functions, and collaborating with other faculty to enhance interdisciplinary research at the University of Saskatchewan. With Saskatchewan leading the epidemic in STBBIs nationally, emphasis is placed on research that raises awareness and leadership at the local, provincial and national level.
Applicants must have a health-field related and post-doctoral research experience in infectious diseases, HIV, STBBI, clinical trials, and implementation science. Strong interpersonal skills and experience working with underserved or Indigenous communities are required. Qualifications include evidence of developing and submitting research fellowships or grant applications, leading research projects, research productivity, teaching experience, interdisciplinary approaches, and demonstrated capacity for scholarship and professional activities. Connections to STBBI related research ongoing in other Canadian provinces is strongly preferred.
Salary band for the position are as follows: Assistant Professor: $99,945 to $120,099. A starting salary above the standard salary band is possible pursuant to Article of the USFA Collective Agreement (see: . This position includes a comprehensive benefits package which includes a dental, health and extended vision care plan; pension plan, life insurance (compulsory and voluntary), academic long-term disability, sick leave, travel insurance, death benefits, an employee assistance program, a professional expense allowance, and a flexible health and wellness spending program.
