Resource and Information Consultant:
Facilitation and Retention


Reporting directly to the Manager, Workforce Partnerships, the incumbent provides customer service, workshop facilitation, data entry, clerical functions and resource centre support assistance in the Employment Ontario Service Delivery model.

The Resource and Information Consultant provides customer service by greeting customers, answering stakeholder inquiries, scheduling appointments for Employment Consultants, facilitating group workshops, and conducting one-to-one job search consultations.

The incumbent assists jobseekers in navigating job search and training websites, and occupational or labour market information. The incumbent aids with resume completion and responds to general inquiries regarding job search.


The incumbent is responsible for providing flexible and responsive services across a broad range of labour market environments to anyone in the community seeking employment at the Employment Ontario (MLITSD) Community Employment Services office locations at Mohawk College.


The incumbent will be required to deliver and present workshops (e.g., Power of Possible, Job Search Networking Group) and support the development of a Point of Interest document for job seekers.

In addition to facilitating these workshops and overseeing the related activities, this position also requires the creation of new workshops and regularly updating workshop materials to keep them current.

They monitor the first 30-days of a job seeker's employment by providing coaching and mentorship.

Through these workshops and corresponding activities, the incumbent plays a crucial role in a client's success in reaching their goals and completing Employment Ontario programs.

The incumbent inputs job seekers' information into funder databases. They will case conference with Employment Consultants to provide status updates supporting each job seeker's employment journey.

The incumbent also ensures the Resource and Information services (as outlined in Program Guidelines) provided to clients will fulfill and meet all requirements outlined.


In addition, the incumbent assists in outreach efforts to promote available services and programs to the outside community using a high degree of judgment and liaises with community agencies, sectoral groups and schools as a means to generate client and employer referrals.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

The duties of this position will include, but are not limited to the following:


Customer service and client retention:


  • Disseminates information about program and service eligibility and community supports.
  • Provides variable levels of guidance and support for clients in resume, cover letter, job search, and interviewing techniques based on client needs; one to one as well as, small and larger group settings to help identify and match career interests, skills and aptitudes.
  • Assists clients with computer usage and access to internetbased services for job search.
  • Provides referrals/information to external community resources, services and programs.
  • Maintains client tracking systems (e.g., FedcapCARES, EOIS-CaMS), records the activities of individual clients and ensures the timely completion and accuracy of required documentation according to funder guidelines.
  • Assists clients in developing short and longterm personal, educational and vocational training and employment goals.
  • Collaborates with the Employment Consultants (EC) and with clients to support the steps of their "Action Plan", reviews progress and outcomes with clients regularly and suggests modifications, as needed.
  • Suggests specific tasks or activities with appropriate timelines and recommends courses of actions to clients based on expressed employment goals.
  • Supports job seekers during the first 30days of employment by verifying employment details (pay stubs, offer letter, employment attestation forms), recording and updating the funder database to reflect employment details and providing guidance and mentorship as the job seeker transitions to employment.
