What you will do:
Library Fulfillment Technicians provide a broad range of high-quality services to students, faculty, staff, alumni, and other members of the Humber community (library users) who use Humber Libraries' collections and services, as well as those who access collections from the University of Guelph-Humber and Omni network of University Libraries.
The incumbent will be responsible for:
- Supporting daily operation of the library circulation desk by checking in and out library materials, processing holds and inter-campus/inter-library loans, delivery of library materials to remote users, administration of user library accounts, and receiving payment and carrying out billing and invoicing procedures for user fines and fees.
- Supporting the organization of the library collection (library stacks management);
- Assisting library users with photocopiers and printers, performing equipment maintenance (adding paper, fixing jams), and responding to requests for basic technical support;
- Assisting with training and supervision of student assistants;
- Liaising with College departments to ensure smooth daytoday operations for the Library and Learning Commons spaces (e.g. IT, Cleaning, Facilities, Public Safety);
- Coordinating and/or taking a facilitating role in project work and contributing fulfillment and customer service expertise to committees and working groups.
What you bring to the role:
Minimum Education Requirements
Two-year Library Technician diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- One year library experience or customer service experience in a public service environment. A strong interest and demonstrated capability to develop skills is required.
- Fulfillment Technicians are an integral part of the Library's day to day operations as such, strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills are a requirement. The incumbent must demonstrate initiative, good judgement, strong problem solving skills and the ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a diverse, fastpaced customer service environment. The ability to communicate policies with empathy, respect, and diplomacy is required.
- Developed time management, attention to detail, and organizational skills are required.
- The incumbent must be tech savvy/digitally fluent. Familiarity with Microsoft software (Office 365, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) is essential. Familiarity with Ex Libris Alma/Primo is an asset. Must be able to learn new technologies quickly, and have proven strategies to support their learning of new technology.
