Analytical Services Analyst

JOB PURPOSE:

Perform lab testing to high standards of quality and efficiency in support of our customers and our production facilities.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Independent execution and troubleshooting of analytical activities related to projects as provided by the AS Manager or senior member
  • Effectively crosstrained and competent at a high level in all lab instrumentation and all lab procedures for project related activities (ie. products, third party and stability testing, standard qualifications, method validations and all testing activities in support of research project activities)
  • Performing Chromatographic Method Validations (Such as GC, HPLC, UPLC, ICPMS, Ion Chromatography) using Empower software
  • Independently conduct required testing and lab tasks (including manufacturing testing activities as requested) under current Good Manufacturing practices (cGMP) in support of new projects (including data interpretation, documentation and reporting of results according to SOPs) under mínimal supervision
  • Execute lab investigations and deviations as per internal SOPs under the direction of AS Manager or senior member (eg. outofspecification reports)
  • Prepare written reports and protocols for analytical services with mínimal supervision
  • Work as an effective team member to meet departmental goals, sharing knowledge with team members
  • Provides technical troubleshooting support or training to other team members where appropriate (e.g. procedural, instrument or method issues)
  • Peer review of colleagues analytical work and communication to AS Manager
  • Assist in training of new employee orientation and the introduction of new procedures and equipment
  • Exceed 100% productivity in achieving sales targets
  • Maintain active continuous crosstraining in support of other departmental objectives (eg. testing support for production activities, lab initiatives, packaging)
  • Ensure compliance to cGMP and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) according to inhouse SOPs.
  • Introduction to reviewing analytical documentation for analysis performed by other analysts under the direction of senior staff
  • Participate in opportunities to develop and disseminate current knowledge of analytical chemistry and technology
  • Promote and ensure safe and clean lab operations
  • Perform departmental tasks such as supply ordering, instrumentation/technology training, lab cleaning etc (as required)
  • Provide shift supervision as required

JOB REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATIONAL AND PROFESSIONAL ATTAINMENT

  • B.Sc. in Chemistry or related field from a recognized educational institution
Or

  • Community College diploma in a related field and a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in analysis of pharmaceutical products

JOB RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
5+ years' experience in analytical chemistry within a pharmaceutical company.
Strong understanding of lab activities related to third party stability and validations


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

  • Understanding and operational knowledge of FDA, ICH and USP regulations
  • Strong analytical chemistry instrumentation skills (e.g. HPLC, GC) including calibration, method development, cleaning methods validations
  • Strong experience operating in a cGMP environment
  • Strong organizational, multitasking and communication skills

Salary:
$55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
