SUMMARY
The Bindery Stitching Operator is responsible for performing the daily operations of the Bindery department.

They will perform daily activities required to bind and finish print materials, with a working knowledge of guillotine, folder, saddle stitcher, perfect binder, and additional assorted bindery equipment.


SCHEDULE:
Thursday to Saturday, 6:00 am - 7:00 pm (13-hour shifts).

AS A BINDERY STITCHING OPERATOR, YOU WILL MAKE YOUR IMPACT BY:

  • Operating bindery machinery (Muller-martini machinery) while recording all accounts on appropriate formsReading work orders and setting up equipment according to project specifications
  • Examining printed materials and products for defects to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Checking quality throughout the duration of each job at specified intervals
  • Providing on the job training to machine helpers and other operators
  • Performing regularly scheduled maintenance and preventative checks on equipment
  • Respecting and abiding to all Health and Safety policies while conducting routine safety checks on equipment
  • Communicating details of schedules and job information for co workers on shift changes
YOU CAN EXCEL AS A BINDERY STITCHING OPERATOR IF YOU HAVE:
A completion of secondary education and/or equivalent

  • Experience using similar bindery equipment in a commercial print environment
  • Production knowledge of machine bindery equipment (folders, stitchers, guillotines, perfect bindery, etc) is essential
  • The ability to lift up to 35 pounds with a strong manual dexterity and hand/eye coordination
  • A high level of attention to detail and quality consciousness
  • The ability to read, understand, and follow instructions and procedures with mínimal supervision
  • The ability to multitask and work in a fast paced environment
  • Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
