EIPS requires individuals to work on a casual 'on-call' basis as substitute Educational Assistants. We are looking to increase substitute support to our Sherwood Park locations.


Key Duties/Responsibilities:

Educational Assistants (EAs) assist teachers with many instructional and non-instructional tasks in the classroom and with other school activities. EAs work as members of the school and student support team.

EAs either work with a particular special needs student or a group of students within a class or in a special program.

EAs may provide personal care and additional assistance for students depending on their particular needs.


Duties will include:

working with students individually or in small groups

working with students with disabilities

lifts, transfers, and personal care of students may be required


Education/Experience:


Requirement:
High School Diploma

training or experience working with students with disabilities

behaviour management training

courses related to working with students with special needs

excellent interpersonal skills

the ability to work with students under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher

the ability to provide personal care for students

Emergency First Aid and CPR

Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training

Educational Assistant Certificate or comparable education


All newly hired Classified Substitutes will be required to provide a satisfactory Criminal Records Check, which includes a vulnerable sector check - dated within six (6) months from offer of employment with EIPS - obtained from local RCMP or Police Department.

Any costs incurred are the responsibility of the employee.
