Reports To Manager, Building and Properties

Department Human Services - Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation

Location Locations throughout City of Kawartha Lakes & County of Haliburton

Hours Normal Working Hours 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday

  • Responsible for daily building maintenance of Kawartha Lakes-Haliburton Housing Corporation's (KLH) residential rental communities, buildings and grounds
  • Perform and log preventative maintenance program as required i.e. change filters, oil mechanical equipment, inspect equipment
  • Perform and log regular health and safety assessments
  • Assess, problem solve and perform minor plumbing, carpentry, drywall, glazing, screening, lock repairs, change lights, painting, floor repairs, etc., within provincial regulations
  • Perform additional tasks such as replacing sinks, toilets, faucets and pipes, as well as construct, install and repair a variety of facility components such as counters, tables, walls, windows, doors, masonry walls, etc.
  • Maintain waste disposal rooms, recycling facilities, and carry out compacted garbage bags for curb side pickup
  • Clear snow from sidewalks, walkways, and plough parking lots including shoveling snow by hand and/or using a walk behind snow blower or plough attached to a truck
  • Salt and sand sidewalks, walkways and parking lots
  • Recognize and report potentially dangerous situations, hazards and building deficiencies to Manager
  • Support the administration of service management agreements related to the operation and maintenance of buildings
  • Develop, document and carry out standard routines for the operation and maintenance of buildings and associated mechanical systems
  • Carry out the planning, and contract administration for small repair/improvement projects that are contracted out to outside service providers
  • Perform daily inspections of fire, health and safety systems as required to ensure compliance with building/facility related regulations and codes including the Ontario Fire Code
  • Obtain approval for, initiate and carry out work, close out work orders, and prepare written reports
  • Maintain equipment/tools in safe, good working order, reporting condition and requesting replacement as necessary
  • Maintain a record of current inventory and provide written reports according to division operation procedures
  • Maintain all buildingrelated service logs in compliance with regulatory requirements and City policy
  • Perform minor renovations/alterations and other work with mínimal supervision
  • Attend training courses and seminars when requested
  • Respond to afterhours emergencies on a rotational basis and when all staff are needed i.e., clearing snow after a snow storm
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Skills/ Education Required

  • Post Secondary Diploma in Building Main
