The opportunity

The Director, Capital Accounting, Reporting & Control reports to the AVP, Capital Accounting, Reporting & Control and will be involved in a wide broad range of initiatives to improve financial reporting and control processes across the organization.

The position requires an individual with a strong background in accounting, analysis and control.

It also requires a high degree of initiative, technical and analytical expertise, the ability to work effectively with many different areas across the organization, a solid understanding of financial processes, and a strong team orientation.

The team consists of one AVP, two directors and two managers. One director position is currently vacant.

Responsibilities
The Director will be involved in and support the following responsibilities of the Capital Accounting, Reporting & Control team, including but not limited to:

Preparation or review of the monthly/quarterly adjustments required for FX accounting for non-functional currency loans, net investment hedges, etc.
Preparation or review of the entries related to the intercompany loan process, including entries into the GL and Kyriba loan administration system, reconciliations, etc.
Preparation or review of the quarterly calculation of FX adjustments for cash flow/nonreserve items for external disclosures
Assistance in the quarterly close process
Assistance in the SOX control process, as required
Preparation or review of selected schedules for external and regulatory reporting
Assistance in ad hoc filings, requests from internal and external sources
Management of the Consolidation Project for alignment of parent and subsidiaries
Management of the subsidiary database
Assistance in establishing and/or streamlining standard processes and improving controls
Advisory and support to segment and functional teams

Challenges

Developing financial processes with limited resources in a timely, efficient and well controlled fashion
Unplanned requests for information and analysis The role has a high profile and requires a great teammate to work effectively with project stakeholders across the Company

What we are looking for

Strong financial background, with excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Demonstrated competency in project management, preferably in a financial processes context
Strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written) and teambuilding skills including the ability to work with crossfunctional and crossdivisional project teams
Selfmotivated and ability to work independently
Ability to manage multiple projects to balance workload
Strong personal computer skills with handson experience of Microsoft products, including Excel and Word
Accounting designation (CPA)
Life insurance experience is an asset
