This position is located in our Toronto office.


Position Summary:


The Accounting Specialist will serve as a financial professional who manages all forms of financial accounts/accounting activities within Midea Canada.

He/She will keep accurate records, ensuring expenses/tax/payroll etc.

are processed timely and accurately, and regularly produce financial reports or statements and do monthly closing, and work with other team members on financial projects to improve compliance and efficiency.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for accounts payable, general ledger, intercompany, payroll and utilities, treasury, cash forecasting, revenue and expenditure variance analysis, capital assets reconciliations, bank statement reconciliations, fixed asset activity, debt activity etc
  • Monitor and analyse accounting data
  • Set up and monitor accounting KPIs
  • Regularly produce financial reports or statements
  • Adhere to proper accounting methods, policies and principles and encourage other employees to adhere to standards
  • Work with other departments to process expense claims for office operation, like utilities and financerelated consulting services.
  • Improve the company's treasury system, budget and expense system offer training to employees on system use as needed.
  • Expense management
- budgeting and manage whole company expenses by department by month by accounts.

  • Assist in month end close, review abnormal accounting events, ensure invoices are imported to the system on time, prepare sales accrual and disclosure, facilitate month end reporting.
  • Prepare reconciliation for intercompany transactions, including expatriate employee salary reimbursement, marketing support and warranty charge back.
  • Provide documents for tax reporting and auditing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Minimum of 5 years experience in accounting or work as GL, AP or AR
  • Proficiency with MS Excel and Oracle EBS
  • Strong communication skills and ability to interact with coworkers.
  • Speaking Mandarin is a plus

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required
