Your Opportunity:


The Manager of Labour, Delivery, Antepartum, Women's Operating/Recovery Room, Triage, and Obstetrical Clinic Department is a key leadership role in the organization and smooth running of the RDRHC Obstetrical Department and reports directly to the Director of RDRHC & Zone Programmatic Lead Women & Children's Health & Children's Rehabilitation Services.

This position is responsible and accountable for providing the direction, leadership and organization of the Obstetrical Department in support of the vision, mission and business plan of Alberta Health Services.

The Manager of Labour, Delivery, Antepartum, Women's Operating/Recovery Room, Triage, and Obstetrical Clinic Department will develop and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders in order to provide leadership to the unit and is also responsible for collaboration with rural sites providing obstetrical services within Central Zone.


Description:

Actively participates in working groups or committees supporting obstetrical practice at a local, zone, and provincial level.

Provides leadership through effective communication, ethical decision making, and commitment to achieving established goals and objectives, ensuring outcome measurements and standards are enforced.

Through significant interaction with internal and external partners and participants, influences the direction of key initiatives on matters of related to organizational unit, function(s) or portfolio support service.

The Manager ensures the strategic use of human resources in providing the most effective and efficient delivery of client service/patient care.

Monitors and provided performance appraisal feedback to staff in a timely manner.

Initiate, implements, and supports new or modified approaches, practices and processes in the organization specifically related to patient flow within the department and hospital.

Continually analyzes the change process and makes necessary adjustments to maximize effectiveness. Plans and determines allocation of resources, authorizes and controls expenditures, and is accountable for managing resources within (department). Promotes an environment that fosters quality improvement and a culture of safety for staff and patients.

Required Qualifications:


A minimum of baccalaureate Degree plus appropriate licenses and designations of a Health care discipline is required (Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered).

A minimum of 5 years of management experience in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. A minimum of 5 years of obstetrical experience. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influential skills, patient & family centered focus and commitment to providing quality services. Demonstrated ability to manage change and create innovative solutions for complex and diverse issues. Proven ability to foster partnerships and to achieve organizational goals. Experience with managing within a unionized sector. Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.


Additional Required Qualifications:

As required.


Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced obstetrical operating room training preferred. History of supporting Accreditation preferred. Certifications in, STORC,NRP, ACORN, Breastfeeding/Lactation Consultant. Experience with Baby Friendly Initiative an asset. Masters of Nursing preferred.
