Johnson & Johnson is recruiting for a
Microbiologist I within the Quality Laboratory team, for a
12-Months Contract , at the Guelph, Ontario manufacturing site.
Weekend shift (
Friday - Monday; 7:00am - 5:00pm ).

In this laboratory-based position, the Microbiologist I will support all microbiology laboratory monitoring and testing. The individual will be required to ensure compliance with all internal specifications and regulatory/corporate policies. This position may also support analytical laboratory activities as required.Key Responsibilities:
- Support testing and approval of materials including: raw materials; water; finished products; packaging components; stability and R&D materials.
- Maintaining the Laboratory and workspace in an Audit-Ready State, communication of priorities with impacted departments (eg. Manufacturing, Laboratory, Planning)
- Support plant hygiene through testing and approval of samples related to environmental monitoring and cleaning validation.
- Execute investigations into microbiological nonconformances and coordinate necessary CAPA activities.
- Generate system reports as required (Nonconformances; Change controls).
- Carry out bacterial and yeast/mould identifications using the MicroSEQ microbial identification system.
- Complete formal risk assessments for isolates as needed.
- Maintain detailed, accurate and uptodate records of work performed using good documentation practices (GDPs).
- Maintain a safe work environment and utilize aseptic technique and good laboratory practices (GLPs) in the handling of biological agents and chemicals.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Minimum bachelor's degree in microbiology or biological discipline equivalent
Experience and skills:
Required:
- Minimum 12 years of relevant microbiology experience; experience in relevant microbiological techniques is required
- Strong knowledge and use of aseptic techniques
- Ability to work Weekend shift (Friday
- Monday; 7:00am 5:00pm).
Preferred:
- Familiar with Good Manufacturing and Good documentation practices
- Should be comfortable working with various computer programs, including Microsoft office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Enjoys working to meet multiple deadlines in a dynamic and fastpaced team environment
- Working knowledge of SAP and/or Catalyst LIMS software.
