Job Type

In-Office, Fulltime, 35 hours/week, 8 weeks of employment beginning end of June or beginning of July
Hourly rate: $18.00
Monday through Thursday 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work directly with clients with a group setting, facilitating meaningful, creative activities
Plan activities for people with neurodegenerative disorders
Setup and cleaning of the activity room
Assisting the Team Leader to schedule activity program events, plan client programs, complete client evaluations, complete client statistics, ensure that supplies are wellstocked

Essential Qualifications

Studying for or holding a B.A. in Therapeutic Recreation or Creative Arts Therapies or a DEC in Community, Recreation and Leadership Training, or a DEC in Special Care Counselling
Knowledge of Alzheimer disease and other dementias and the impact on people living with dementia, caregivers and families
Fluency in French and English is a necessity
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to integrate and collaborate well with other professionals
Strong ethical standards and a respect for client confidentiality
Ability to demonstrate empathy, flexibility and leadership
Experience working in a similar environment

Eligibility through the Canada Summer Jobs Program

To be eligible for this position, youth must:
be between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period

- be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and
- have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations
