BASIC FUNCTION:


To take a leading role in preparations for, assembly and testing of ATLAS ITk Silicon Strip detector modules, and assembling them onto their carbon fibre support structures in Vancouver.

In addition, to analyze data from the ATLAS experiment and document work in papers and presentations.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Refine methods for strip module assembly and testing
  • Refine methods for testing modules on their support structures ('petals')
  • Develop quality control tools for the above
  • Disseminate results as articles in peer reviewed scientific journals and at national and international conferences and workshops
  • Provide guidance to undergraduate and graduate students
  • Attend
    TRIUMF ATLAS group meetings
  • Carry out ATLAS physics analysis

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Extensive knowledge of particle physics, detector physics, statistics, general programming and computing, good communication skills

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND YEARS OF EXPERIENCE:
Recent PhD (received within 5 years) in experimental particle physics, with experience in radiation detector hardware and scientific computing.
