We're looking for new talent to join us as we transform BC's energy future.

Our diverse team of more than 2,600 employees is committed to a safe and inclusive culture where each of us can connect, belong and grow.

Join us and let's work together for a better BC. Position Overview

You're a technical wizard with a magic touch when it comes to system planning and your expertise paired with your communications skills has prepared you to lead a team of technologists in achieving departmental success.

You connect all the right dots with internal stakeholders and team members and can exercise precise judgment when developing processes and managing a diverse set of projects.

With your unique skills and background, you're ready to take on our System Capacity Planning Supervisor position.

In this role, you'll coordinate engineering activities to determine, justify, and establish timelines for all capital capacity expansion projects and supervise the FortisBC Gas Capacity Planning Technologists to meet departmental and organizational objectives.

In year 1, you will:

Familiarize yourself with our transmission and distribution pipeline systems and learn to use hydraulic simulations to address operational emergencies and review simulation results.

Learn group-specific systems, software, processes, and personnel, and establish a development plan for future training needs.
Independently direct and support annual departmental processes and activities.

Organize and lead inter-departmental communications and meetings such as System Improvement meetings with the Project Management Office and station capacity meetings with Operations.

Increase familiarity with the transmission systems, constraints, processes, and initiatives

What it takes:

A bachelor's degree in engineering or a related diploma or certificate from a recognized technical institution, plus 8 to 12 years of recent, related experience, including experience in hydraulic modelling of gas distribution and transmission systems, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia, or as a Technologist with Applied Science Technologists and Technicians of British Columbia.

Excellent collaboration skills with an effortless ability to communicate and work effectively with team members and a wide variety of internal stakeholders throughout the business unit.

Exceptional organization skills to plan, coordinate, and execute a large number and wide variety of annual and ad hoc tasks and initiatives.

Proven technical skills along with fast-learning capabilities to use departmental tools including hydraulic simulation software, Geographic Information Systems, Excel, access tools and databases, and SCADA.

A basic to intermediate understanding of gas system assets and hydraulics is necessary.
Outstanding decision-making and prioritization skills to balance long
- and short-term priorities and provide poised and consistent leadership during pipeline emergencies and urgent operational requests.
Our engaging workplace offers a wide range of challenging opportunities, while being safe, inclusive and diverse. We offer a competitive salary and benefits package, while supporting life-long career development. We also encourage volunteerism and nourish the need to give back to your community.
