Summary:

Responsible for providing safety leadership to the organization's Warehouse and Distribution operations in assigned facilities under the guidance of Maersk Corporate safety policies in accordance with WorkSafeBC's regulatory standards.

Assist operations leaders in implementing, monitoring, and managing safety programs, policies, and procedures.

Support operational leaders in identifying unsafe conditions, conducting facility audits, and evaluating working conditions with recommendations to improve employee safety.

Responsible for maintaining safety incident records and tracking assigned programs within the department. Plan and accomplish goals within the assigned location(s). Perform a variety of tasks, working under mínimal to general supervision.


Responsibilities:


  • Monitor and track the effectiveness of Corporate Safety Programs within a DC operation.
  • Remain current with relevant WorkSafeBC regulatory requirements and serve as a resource for the DC.
  • Conduct incident investigations to identify root causes and corrective actions in accordance with Corporate and Canadian Safety regulations.
  • Conduct audits and inspections within the assigned DC, identifying any corrective or preventative measures needed, and reporting and following up to ensure compliance.
  • Provide cultivating guidance toward a safety culture through training, increased awareness, risk assessments, hazard identification, and behaviorbased programs.
  • Share best practice information among all facilities.
  • Verify forklift certification process is exercised to ensure regulatory requirements are achieved.
  • Identify & correct unsafe conditions and behaviors.
  • Partner with operations leaders in the assigned Distribution Center to align with company SOP's.
  • Support operational leaders with the facilitation of monthly Safety Committee meetings.
  • Coach operational leaders on the regulatory requirements for fire extinguisher monthly inspections.
  • Support the operational leaders on the regulatory requirements of weekly eye wash station(s) inspections.
  • Partner with operations to ensure employee safety training across multiple shifts when needed.
  • Maintain safety programs/literature within the building.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • WorkSafeBC / Ontario Health and Safety/ Safety Courses.
  • 26 Years of onsite safety experience
  • CPR / First Aid Certification.
  • Knowledge of WorkSafeBC and/or Ontario Health and Safety regulations.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Detailoriented and a team player.

Pay:
$75,000.00-$90,000.00 per year
