Working for the Department/Faculty


Located in the Kaye Edmonton Clinic and falling under the self-funded umbrella of Campus Services, the University of Alberta's Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic (GSSMC) is a multi-faceted facility that serves the needs of active individuals, whether you're a recreational player, a varsity athlete, or you just love to exercise and stay active.

The clinic consists of an interdisciplinary team of physicians, surgeons, physical therapists, kinesiologists, massage therapists and orthotists who specialize in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of musculoskeletal, sport and exercise-related concerns.


Position
This is a new position developed to support the rehabilitation programs of the Glen Sather Sports Medicine Clinic.

The individual may work at either of the 2 locations with include the Saville Community Sports Centre or the Kaye Edmonton Clinic (KEC).

This position and its responsibilities will evolve as injury prevention and return to activity programming continues to increase.

The individual will be working directly with patients, family members as an active member of the multidisciplinary team lead by a Physical Therapist.


Duties

  • Aid in facilitating the programs (e.g. F.A.S.T. Knee Program) to patients in accordance with the exercise protocols
  • Assist with baseline and follow up testing of patients as required
  • Teaching and monitoring exercises and correcting when appropriate
  • Documentation of participant progress in the electronic medical record
  • Taking, processing payments and booking appointments for GSSMC clinicians
  • Greeting and registering patients in a professional and friendly manner and addressing any administrative questions that may arise during registration process.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Kinesiology or Bachelor of Physical Education and Recreation.
  • Registration with the Alberta Association of Kinesiologists
  • Experience working with patients with musculoskeletal injuries or conditions
  • First Aid and CPR certification

Preferred Qualifications

  • Personal Fitness Diploma/Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist would be considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in using exercise testing and assessment equipment.
