Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented
Survey Party Chief to join our team In this role you will get to conduct construction layout and engineering survey services.

This role is to support the delivery of the Edmonton Valley Line West LRT Project.


R
esponsibilities:


  • Conduct topographic surveys, engineering surveys and asbuilt surveys.
  • Building and structural layout and structural quality control surveys.
  • Earthwork surveys and earth volume and cutfill management surveys.
  • Collecting field data using various survey instruments.
  • Overseeing QC of data collection, ensuring that field notes and daily downloads are complete.
  • May be asked to assist lastminute with unplanned or unexpected discoveries and complete the task adhoc, whilst completing all documentation and follow through.
  • Take accurate, clear, concise field notes and able to complete rapid calculations.

Requirements:


  • 8 years' experience in surveys.
  • Experience and knowledge of operating robotic total stations and Windowsbased data collectors, GNSS technology and other data collection technologies.
  • Minimum 2 years' construction surveying experience.
  • Experience and knowledge operating GPS equipment.
  • Experience using MS Office software; AutoCAD Civil 3D experience an asset.
  • Completion of 2year minimum college program in geomatics technology or equivalent combination of relevant work experience.
  • Must be proficient in setting up, operating and troubleshooting conventional and GPS survey equipment.
  • Must be comfortable with static control surveys, highprecision layout work and 1st order leveling techniques, or wiling to learn.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and follow up.
  • Excellent problemsolving skills.
  • Unwavering commitment to environmental health and safety in the workplace.
  • Willing to mentor and train other colleagues.
  • Willingness to work in either field or office settings in any type of Alberta weather and able to complete field reports in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license, preferably with a clean abstract.
  • Valid applicable safety tickets (Confined Space, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift) an asset. Training can be provided.
  • Complete accountability and oversight for field survey work as assigned.
  • Complete site communication accountability.
  • Full countability and ability to support, direct and assess Location Management and Survey Standards.
  • Equipment maintenance, control, repair and inventory accountability.
  • Completion, interpretation of, and execution of, Project Manager field direction.
  • Data collection and field measurement downloading and accuracy.
  • Advanced calculation skills and angle/ distance measurement.
  • Ensures the completion of Field Hazard documentation and assessment.
  • Responsible for their own safe conduct within the field and for identifying and rectifying any hazard and/ or unsafe working situation.
  • Municipal engineering and land development projects an asset.
  • Familiarity with sewer, water main, dirt survey, earthworks and road construction materials, methods and processes.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Must be able to transport and carry up to 50 lbs. of field gear and ale to negotiate terrain on inprogress build sites.
  • May be asked to work afternoons and weekends on a rotational basis.
  • Sound judgment and able to make good decisions on your feet.
