Russel Metals Inc. is currently seeking an individual for the position of
Plant Supervisor in our
Nisku, AB location.

Responsibilities:


  • Take a leadership role in the Health and Safety plan, setting objectives and programs that will comply with organizational standards. Maintain/ensure compliance to a Total Preventative Maintenance Program and maintain/ensure compliance to a Quality Assurance Program.
  • Define and implement the standards which will reduce the cost of doing business which specifically encompass the following: machine up times, labour down times, shipping & receiving, on time delivery, material planning and maintenance which includes plant & equipment assessments, repairs/replacements.
  • Ensure a positive environment within the plant where performance standards can be established.
  • Be proactive in problem solving & process improvement capabilities.
  • Develop and coach employees to support continued growth in their job and overall career development.
  • Define and implement policies, maintain ISO standards and procedures that will contribute to achieving short and longterm objectives.
  • Work with unit management to develop and support current sales plans and future marketing initiatives and performance standards (i.e. On Time Delivery).
  • Take an active role in the daily metals processing activities.

Education and Skills Required:


  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience (preferably in a unionized environment).
  • Strong people skills with proven leadership ability (lead, motivate, delegate).
  • Experienced in the manufacturing/fabrication environment.
  • Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Computer proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
  • Drafting and/or drawing experience.
