Primary Responsibilities
- Provide functional leadership in area of expertise by leading projects and/or crossdiscipline teams by participating on projects and/or crossdiscipline teams
- Work closely with other developers to identify requirements relating to data extraction from other desperate systems such as student records etc.
- Program and customize student records to meet Alberta Education's requirements for reporting data elements
- Work closely with systems staff on disaster recovery strategies, backup /restore processes, capacity planning and security requirements
- Consult with partners to identify business problems and communicate ways of streamlining process
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Computing Science, or Computer Technology, plus five years directly related experience
- Microsoft Certified Developer or equivalent industry certification
- Knowledge of: Microsoft ASP.NET/.Net Core, C#, JQuery, HTML, TFS/DevOps, Internet Information Server, ODBC and SQL Server database environments, SQL Reporting Services and current System Analysis, Design Methodologies,Microsoft Windows operating system environments, internal data structures including both SQL and Oracle database administration experiences, computer network structures and supporting policies
- Knowledge of: Office 365 development tools such as Azure, PowerBI and SharePoint
- Knowledge of specific business process, project management techniques, FOIP Legislation; erecords management and system security standards
- Knowledge of the educational environment and its unique technical requirements
- Understanding of Division business, operations and programs
- Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work in collaboration with others
- Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities
- Strong problemsolving, analytical and conceptual skills and the ability to create original concepts/theories
- Ability to influence decisionmaking and recommend alternative solutions or courses of action
- Customer service focused attitude and the ability to conduct needs assessment of nontechnical users
- Ability to provide guidance and mentoring to technical staff
- Ability to remain calm and focused in very stressful situations
- Ability to travel to sites within the City of Edmonton
