Job Summary:


The Polygraph examiner is responsible for administering polygraph examinations, in strict adherence to Service standards, in support of CSIS Internal Security, SSB, operational investigations, and other governments departments, as needed.


  • Administer polygraph examinations in strict adherence to CSIS Psychophysiological Credibility Assessment Unit (PCAU) standards. Research files and consult with stakeholders in preparation for testing. Submit detailed, accurate report in timely fashion, advising managers of time sensitive matters. Discretion is critical.
  • Select appropriate test format, and prepare correct test questions in accordance with CSIS PCAU standards for all polygraph examinations.
  • Administer polygraph examinations in support of CSIS Internal Security, Security Screening branch, section 12 investigations, and other government departments, as needed.
  • Maintain and ensure technical equipment is in good working order. Report defective equipment to manager's attention.
  • Assist with training and development of incoming / junior polygraph examiners.
  • Participate in ongoing training relating to all areas of polygraph examinations, including technical development, interviewing skills, etc.
  • Develop and deliver presentations for various clients on any aspect of polygraph in order to educate / promote awareness of polygraph in general, and PCAU.
  • Provide assistance to / consult with foreign Services and domestic law enforcement agencies in all areas relating of polygraph.
  • Provide assistance to GoC departments/agencies as the lead agency security screening.

Education:


Undergraduate degree* and four (4) years of experience**College diploma* and seven (7) years of experience**High school diploma and eleven (11) of years of experience**- The educational program must be from an accredited learning institution recognized in Canada.


If you completed a program outside of Canada you will be required to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency at your expense through a recognized credential assessment service.


Note:
Any higher level of education could be recognized as experience.


Experience:


Experience conducting high complexity interviews in one or more fields such as internal security, security screening, human resources, various investigative capacities (Child protective services, detention environment, auditing, etc.), and investigations or work related to human source operations.


  • High complexity can be demonstrated through the length or frequency of interviews and/or the content and circumstances characterizing such interviews.
  • Significant** experience dealing with people at all levels, including management; and
  • Significant** experience writing high complexity reports.
**Significant is defined as the depth and breadth of experience normally acquired over a period of four (4) or more consecutive years.

Assets:

An asset qualification is a qualification which can enhance the ability to perform the work based on current and future business requirements, but which is not strictly required.

Conditions of Employment:
