Job Summary:

Responsible for planning, programming and instructing preschool programs.

Please note:

This posting will be used to fill various vacancies over the coming months and therefore interviews will be offered when required.

The recruitment of these positions is dependent on available vacancies and business needs.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Support the objectives and philosophies of preschool programs through quality instruction that meets the needs of the customer.
  • Prepare and plan lessons in advance.
  • Ensure program supplies/equipment is available and in good condition.
  • Provide quality customer service and act as a knowledgeable resource to parents, participants, volunteers and staff.
  • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all registered participants. To maintain supervision of participants at all times and provide a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants by adhering to department safety standards and assisting with emergency procedures as required.
  • Prepare and maintain additional administrative records as required. (i.e. facility checks, attendance, accident/incident reports).
  • Maintain cleanliness of program area and equipment.
  • Communicate regularly with Program Supervisor or designate to ensure program needs are being met.
  • Attend and participate in trainings and staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Complete all mandatory online eLearning modules.
  • Incorporate and model the HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development in program delivery where appropriate.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications:


  • At least 15 years of age
  • A diploma/degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent plus two years working experience with preschool aged children is considered an asset
  • A dynamic, outgoing individual with an aptitude for working with preschool aged children (Birth to 5 years of age).
  • Emergency or Standard First Aid with CPR B or C certification (or higher) from a WSIB approved provider.
  • HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development certification.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills and able to work with mínimal supervision
  • Employment offer is conditional upon receipt of a Level III
  • Vulnerable Sector Check from a Police unit that is acceptable to the City of Mississauga.

Hourly Rate/Salary:
$ $20.22 ($ $21.08 as of April 1, 2024)
