Under general direction and based on an intermediate level data analyst skill set, a Data Analyst will
_ _participate in the planning, support, development/re-engineering, implementation, on-going analysis and maintenance of a wide range of Division-developed reporting systems and dashboards.

We are looking for an individual with strong teamwork skills and specialized knowledge.

A core responsibility of this position is to provide day-to-day support with problem resolution to assigned information systems and workflows.

Responsibilities:


  • Participate in planning, developing/reengineering, implementing and providing ongoing support of a wide range of ECSD developed data visualizations and information systems.
  • Collaborate closely with crossfunctional teams (e.g., developers, educators) to understand their data needs and objectives and translating data insights into actionable recommendations that drive strategic decisions while adhering to department policies, procedures and standards.
  • Provide functional support in area of expertise by participating on projects and/or crossdiscipline teams.
  • Working closely with other analysts and vendors to collect data from various sources, including databases, spreadsheets, APIs, and external platforms. Ensure data accuracy, completeness, and integrity through meticulous cleaning and preprocessing.
  • Perform highend data systems testing on assigned systems prior to deployment to ensure the enduser receives a working product with accurate data collection, visualization, and reports.
  • Work closely with systems staff on disaster recovery strategies, backup /restore processes, capacity planning and security requirements.
  • Consult with stakeholders to identify business problems and communicate ways of streamlining process.
  • Act as a technical backup to team members ensuring continuity of service provided to users.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through a range of professional development activities.

Qualifications

  • Degree or diploma in Computing Science, Computer Technology, Statistics or Data Science plus three years directly related experience.
  • Microsoft Certification in Data Analyst or equivalent industry certification.
  • Knowledge of: Relational database environments, SQL Server, Oracle, Azure, PowerBI, Sharepoint, SQL Reporting Services, Excel and current Data Analysis, Design Methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Data Modelling and Artificial Intelligence.
  • Knowledge of specific business process, project management techniques, FOIP Legislation; erecords management and system security standards.
  • Knowledge of workplace safety and awareness of Occupational Health and Safety regulations.
  • Strong technical skills in SQL, Data Visualization and Machine Learning.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to work in collaboration with others.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively present data in a compelling narrative to drive decision making.
  • Strong problemsolving, statistics, data exploration and conceptual skills and the ability to create original concepts/theories.
  • Curiosity and critical thinking with attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence decisionmaking and to recommend alternative solutions or courses of action.
