About the Role:


You'll be working on things like:

  • Write and produce for Global News Winnipeg with the highest degree of competence, clarity, and accuracy;
  • Manage daily content plan and daily broadcast rundown;
  • Responsible for clear communication on daytoday newsroom operations;
  • Make quick decisions when it comes to news judgment and breaking news situations;
  • Update Open Media, including but not limited to creating and updating content Bins, Finished content, rundowns, planning schedules
  • Assist with daily editing requirements;
  • Quality control prior to broadcast;
  • Provide input on creative, original ideas on how to cover events in an Evening newscast and other newscasts and platforms.
  • Assist Managing Editor & Executive Producer in planning major events;
  • Coordinate resources of the newsroom
  • Produce, write and post content for online including web stories and social media;
  • Responsible for daily flow of information and media through the newsroom to all platforms;
  • Identify short term opportunities and challenges for broadcast, online and radio;
  • Keep current with local / national news and ensure upcoming news events are noted for future coverage on air or online;
  • Perform other duties as required.
If you have the want to hear from you

  • Postsecondary education in broadcast television or related experience;
  • Minimum two years of experience in a newsroom writing, reporting, or producing
  • Strong writing and organizational skills and also be able to work well under pressure;
  • Experience in updating online and broadcast content with a content management system.
  • Be a proven leader that can motivate and engage staff while getting results;
  • Familiarity with nonlinear editing systems and digital video formats;
  • Work cooperatively with others in a teamwork setting;
  • Positive, cando attitude, proven track record of accountability;
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and a clear driving record;
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows as well as show a willingness to learn new online skills in a multifaceted digital news operation;
