    Description

    The AHN has an expert understanding and knowledge of addiction and mental health programming, strong collaborative skills, and the ability to liaise with other internal, allied, contracted, and community stakeholders to facilitate timely care to individuals and families within the outpatient and inpatient Step Up Step Down program.

    The AHN is responsible for planning, creating, and implementing site development projects in the realm of clinical care, safety planning and supporting staff/program development with the guidance of the manager.

    The AHN is responsible for overseeing the development and maintenance of the clinical protocols by the site in conjunction with program supports.

    You will be responsible for optimal client flow and frontline nursing care as required. You will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality client care and the implementation of operational priorities.

    Your advanced critical thinking skills, judgement, and clinical experience will assist in collaborations for complex mental health and addiction issues at all levels.

    You will collaborate with clients, interdisciplinary team members, families/caregivers, community agencies and secondary treatment teams to create goals and treatment planning.

    As an Assistant Head Nurse, you will be responsible for staff assignments, patient flow and acting as a role model, clinical resource and advocate for nursing staff.

    In addition to providing frontline nursing care, as required, you will take a leadership role in the promotion of quality patient care and the implementation of operational priorities.

    Your in-depth knowledge and skills, advanced judgment and clinical experience, will assist in providing solutions for complex health care issues at all levels with patients, interprofessional teams, administrators and policy makers.

    You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

    Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

    Must have excellent assessment, critical thinking, organization, and client/patient care skills.

    Must have exceptional computer skills, including and not limited to - Connect Care, Workforce ESP, Outlook, Excel Spreadsheets, Microsoft Word, Netcare, Microsoft Teams and Zoom.

    Must have the ability to maintain a positive and healthy work environment, following the AHS code of conduct policy to manage conflict.

    Must be able to guide and teach youth, families, and coworkers how to have supportive, therapeutic conversations.

    Previous proven nursing leadership, with 2 years' experience, in a youth and adolescent mental health setting will be given preference and is strongly preferred.

    Trauma Informed Care modules, The Leaders Guide to Emotional Intelligence, Art of Accountability and The Brain Story Certification, Code of Conduct, Ethics and Compliance, and Conflict Resolution are all preferred.
