Reporting to the Divisional VP, the Materials Manager will be responsible for overseeing the entire warehousing and transportation network.
As well as the company's needs for inventory and supplies by managing vendor relationships, assessing supply needs, and coordinating delivery schedules.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage product purchasing, warehousing, and distribution.
- Coordinate and supervise receiving and warehousing procedures.
- Control inventory levels and ensure the availability of material.
- Purchase supplies and materials according to specifications.
- Maintain relationships and negotiate with suppliers.
- Keep detailed records on procurement activity, materials quantity, specifications, etc.
- Assist in forecasting to plan future orders.
- Ensure timely shipping of international and domestic finished goods by managing ontime delivery.
- Develop and manage logistics KPIs.
- Analyze the financial impact of logistics changes, routing, shipping modes, etc.
- Evaluating suppliers based on delivery speed for their products and services, price, and quality.
- Interviewing vendors and visiting supplier distribution centers and plants to examine and learn about prices, products, and services.
- Analyzing financial reports, price proposals, and other information used to determine reasonable pricing.
- Negotiating contracts for the organization and working out agreements with suppliers for product delivery.
- Meeting with vendors and staff to discuss unacceptable and defective products and establish corrective action.
- Supervise, evaluate, and coach direct reports.
- Ensure the cleanliness of the warehouse through the visual management tools developed as well as 5S.
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, transportation, logistics, business, or related field.
- 46 years of supervisory/management experience in a manufacturing warehouse environment.
- Experience in shipping and receiving.
- Familiarity with supply chain and inventory management systems.
- Understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
- Working knowledge of SAP
- Proficient in MS Office
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
