Opportunity

The Corporate Finance team is responsible for the preparation of AIMCo's annual financial statements, annual budget, quarterly forecasts, and monthly reporting activities to AIMCo's internal departments including budget and actual variance analysis.

This also includes financial reporting to the Alberta Treasury Board and Finance and other external parties.


The student will learn about corporate accounting activities, the preparation of monthly internal reports, variance costs analysis to budget and prior year actuals, as well as other ad-hoc reporting inquiries.

The student will have an opportunity to work across various departments of the organization during AIMCo's budget cycle while supporting the Manager, Financial ReportingCorporate Finance team in budget data compilation for the new fiscal year.

Depending on the ability and initiative of the student, the student may contribute to the upgrading our financial reports.


Requirements:


  • Completion of second
- or third-year undergraduate studies in Accounting or Finance

  • Must be enrolled in a Coop or equivalent work experience program
  • Strong financial accounting skills and previous exposure to accounting software is an asset
  • Knowledge of gene rally accepted accounting practices and principles, including International Financial Reporting Standards and Canadian GAAP (ASPE) is preferred
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data, prepare financial reports, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on information presented
  • Completion of second
or third-year undergraduate studies in Business (accounting or finance)

  • Power BI knowledge is an asset
  • Exceptional attention to detail and an ability to manage multiple tasks and work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail
  • An inquisitive attitude and a desire to learn new things
