Important Overview:


  • This position is posted as Regular, Parttime (0 to 36 hours per week).
  • There is no guarantee of hours on a Parttime basis.
  • This is a 24/7 operation successful applicants must be willing to workday/evening/nights including weekends.

Please Note:
Core Communication (CAD) Training will take place starting January 2023 for approximately - 6 months.

Training is full-time, held Monday - Friday, typically 8:00am - 4:00pm.


Recruitment process is as follows:

Criticall assessment (mid Oct.)
:

All applicants are required to complete an online CritiCall assessment, which is a computer-based assessment and evaluates areas such as data entry skills, memory recall, critical thinking, medical terminology and Niagara geography.

First round interviews (end of Oct.)
:

If you successfully meet the Criticall assessment benchmarks, you will be invited to attend an online interview via Zoom.

Second round interviews (mid. Nov.)
:

If you successfully meet the first-round interviews benchmarks, you may be invited to attend a second-round online interview via ZOOM, should they be required.

If you are successful with this position, you will be required to produce or complete the following documents:

  • Grade 12 Diploma (or equivalent e.g., GED)
  • Valid CPR (CPR-C level, CPR-HCP or higher) and First Aid (not expiring within the next 3 months)
  • Proof of uptodate immunizations: Tetanus, Rubella, Mumps, Diphtheria, Chicken Pox, Hepatitis B, Poliomyelitis, Measles, TB, and Influenza.
  • Oath of Confidentiality
  • Medical Declaration
  • Proof of unrestricted driver's license
  • Produce a basic police clearance
  • If you are successful, references will be conducted. We require a minimum of 3 work related references from individuals who supervised your work, no personal references or peer references are accepted.
Start date for successful applicants will be approximately January 2023.


Upon completion of the Core CAD training program trainees will be required to complete live environment mentoring lasting approximately 4 weeks if this mentoring component is not successfully completed the offer of employment may be rescinded.

Job Summary


Under the guidance of the Training Supervisor, Operations Supervisor or System Status Controller, an SSC trainee will receive, assess, monitor, allot priority to and communicate a prompt response in both English and French to obtain maximum coverage and efficiency for all requests for routine and emergency ambulance services, fire services and other agencies where required, and maintain accurate records of all calls and movements in a closely supervised environment in order to develop the competencies of the System Status Controller position.


QUALIFICATIONS

Educational

  • Hold an Ontario Secondary School Graduation diploma or have academic qualifications approved as equivalent by the Ministry of Education.

Experience

  • Core & CAD Ambulance Communication 640 hour a
