Yard operations are an essential part of our business and are pivotal in enabling WJ Canada's ability to execute projects on time and on budget.


Key Role Objectives


The principal functions of the Logistics Specialist role are to coordinate the preparation and mobilization of equipment for various projects.

This includes organizing movement of items into, within and out of the Yard Facility, maintaining inventories, coordinating maintenance activities and acting as liaison with suppliers.

The Logistics Specialist will demonstrate a strong practical familiarity with our dewatering systems and yard process workflow. The incumbent will prepare equipment according to dewatering system & material requests for review by the Yard Supervisor. This will include maintaining inventory of various parts, assemblies, tools, assets, etc. and assisting the Yard Supervisor with scheduling of various tasks.

The incumbent will also track assets and coordinate the flow of information, spare parts and materials required for their repair and maintenance.

In addition, the position also entails improving yard organization and process workflow.


As an integral part of the Yard Facility team, the incumbent will also assist in maintaining a professional and safe working environment safe working environment at the Yard Facility.


Key Areas of Responsibility

  • Receive and organize fulfillment of material requests for various dewatering equipment, assemblies and fittings and assess associated requirements for subassemblies, fittings and other purchased components,
  • Organize, maintain, and record inventory of fittings, assemblies and other equipment and spare parts at the yard by keeping an uptodate inventory list and liaise with purchasing to restock inventory,
  • Assist in processing repairs required to equipment, track execution of maintenance schedules, monitor inventory of spare parts, and prepare information for review by Yard Supervisor,
  • Act point of contact for receiving, stocking and shipping, and update asset inventory,
  • Establish and maintain service schedules for mechanical equipment and WJ vehicles,
  • Collect packing slips, maintain records, and inspection sheets to submit to the Office Manager and Yard Supervisor as required,
  • Work with the Yard Supervisor to order materials needed to repair and maintain WJ equipment as required,
  • Work with Yard Supervisor to ensure all WJ Equipment is in great condition before leaving the yard to promote a professional image,
  • Assist with assembly work if required,
Other responsibilities as dictated by changing business needs.


Qualifications and Experience

Key qualifications and experience for this position are:

  • High school diploma or equivalent,
  • Strong motivation, exceptional work ethic, professional demeanor, organizational skills and a commitment to achieving objectives,
  • Experience with dewatering, drilling or construction equipment is considered an asset,
  • Experience with fluid handling, pumping or piping equipment systems or processes, or mechanical/HVAC is also beneficial,
  • Experience in warehousing, transportation, or other related industry is beneficial
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office software is required, experience with CAD or other modelling software is considered beneficial
