The McGill Clinical and Health Informatics Research Group conducts research to improve the use of digital data to inform public health decisions and improve population health.
Our research program includes studies that:
1) Develop and evaluate automated methods for detecting cases and outbreaks of infectious and chronic diseases from multiple data streams,
2) Develop and evaluate software for communicating population health information to public health practitioners, clinicians, and the general public, and
3) Use methods from simulation, machine learning, and health economics to inform decision problems in health policy and medicine
Our research assistants have the opportunity to work with a vibrant team of investigators, public health practitioners, clinicians, research staff, and software developers, all dedicated to conducting research and developing informatics tools that improve population health.
Our research has been funded by the Canadian Foundation for Innovation, Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Canadian Patient Safety Institute, Center for Disease Control, Geoconnections, Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Canadian Blood Services, the COVID-19 Immunity Task Force, and the MUHC Research Institute funds.
Position Summary:
- Conduct data analysis under the direction of senior staff
- Assist with the management and analysis of data held in large databases
- Write and submit ethics approval documents and contributes to grant proposals
- Contribute to the preparation of reports for granting agencies, and manuscripts for publications
- Contribute to presentations for conferences, seminars, and workshops
Qualifications:
Master's in epidemiology, data science, health policy management, or a related field and experience working in applied health services research are required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, analytic skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a team are essential to this position.
Must have strong organizational and priority setting skills, and be able to work autonomously in a complex, changing, deadline-oriented environment, as well as in a team setting.
Demonstrated leadership potential and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities without supervision is necessary.Hourly Salary:
$28.44
