Summary:


Under the direction of the Site Services Manager, the Superintendent, Site Services is responsible to aid the Site Manager in the fulfillment of the Labor Services Contract for the Suncor Site.

The Superintendent, Site Services will assist and support the operational work plan for the scheduled shift(s), ensure that the policies regarding the Labor Services Contracts serviced on site are in accordance with the Fort McKay Group of Companies LP policies and procedures, and to ensure that the work is being done in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.

This is a safety-sensitive position that requires completion of pre-employment/pre-access testing.


Key focuses:


  • Developing and managing strong relationships with key clients to ensure the management of all our working crews while providing excellent client service.
  • Direct and lead the General Foremen and Foremen to meet the requirements of the contract, the client and Fort McKay Group of Companies LP while indirectly managing a large group of hourly employees. Provide clear expectations to the General Foremen to ensure the delivery of support and services to the client operations.
  • Support all efforts to investigate, identify, and implement solutions related to process issues, customer quality issues, process improvements, productivity issues, and any other variances within the scope of work or position.
  • Provide coverage and become point of contact during Site Manager absences and be prepared to assume all duties at a moments notice as needed.
  • Review employee sign in/outs as needed, coordinate any payroll/time matters with the Site Administrators and the Payroll department.
  • Collaborate with the Site Manager to develop procedures for directly related responsibilities for the General Foreman, the Foreman, and all direct reports.
  • Employee management: Review corrective actions, manage performance, support the recruitment and termination processes, and adhere to employment standards, Fort McKay Policies and Procedures. Review reports on employee Safety, Performance, Attitude, Attendance, and Tardiness and recommend action as needed.
  • Provide leadership and vision to the General Foreman, creating a workplace culture that stresses professionalism, integrity, commitment and teamwork
  • Develop operational business plans, operational requirements, organization structures, staffing and budgets to support the strategic plans and review all with the Site Manager.
  • Ensure that equipment maintenance, tool and supplies, and any other task specific items are addressed and completed. Approve and forward written requests for equipment, tool, radio, repair from Foremen to Site Manager.
  • Responsible for maintaining the relationship with the local Union within the regional area.
  • Direct activities with the General Foremen to correct issues, solve problems, enhance business, and ensure continuous improvement in all operational activities.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with quality programs, HR/HSE initiatives, policies and procedures, collective agreements, internal and external audits to ensure qualification within the assigned area.
  • Communicate updated policies, procedures, and protocols implemented, following up as required. Ensure that employees understand operational procedures and practice procedures.
  • Carry out ongoing skill development and training with employees and report to Site Manager any training requests.
  • Perform any related and/or additional duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:


  • Completion of a High School Diploma is required. Postsecondary diploma or Bachelors degree in Business Administration or other discipline is considered an asset.
  • A valid Class 5 License (or equivalent) is required, along with a satisfactory 3year Drivers Abstract.
  • CSTS/ OSSA or CSO or BSO, Bear Awareness, and WHMIS (Workplace Hazardous Materials information System) is required.
  • Knowledge in MS Office, specifically Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Experience in SAP, INX, or Ceridian Dayforce is considered an asset.
  • At least 7+ years of experience, with at least 5+ years of experience in a supervisory capacity in the Oil/Gas industry in a similar role within a large and dynamic operation is required.
  • Strong ability to analyze problems, identify multiple solutions, consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations.
  • Ability to write reports and correspondence
