The Manitoba Métis Federation (MMF) is the National Government of the Red River Métis - also known as the Manitoba Métis.

The Red River Métis are Canada's Negotiating Partners in Confederation and the Founders of the Province of Manitoba.


The MMF seeks to fill
one part-time three-month term Medical Office Assistant Instructor position within our
Louis Riel Vocational College located at 150 Henry Ave in
Winnipeg, MB.

Reporting to the Director, the Instructor is responsible for planning and implementing course programming, including teaching on-site in the physical classroom environment and designing and facilitating web-based course and offline independent study options.

This position will be focused on teaching the Medical Office Assistant course and requires a commitment of 15 hours per week.


_ Job Duties/Competencies:
_


  • Use a variety of creative and motivating approaches to stimulate learning within a distributed teachinglearning classroom environment;
  • Research and develop program curriculum;
  • Teach courses according to the existing course outline of the Medical Office Assistant program;
  • Provide learning activities that stimulate student involvement;
  • Teach and demonstrate clinical skills given simulated scenarios needed by the students before their exposure to different clinical placements;
  • Conduct review and enhancement classes to students who are eligible to take certification exam;
  • Guide and counsel students with adjustment or academic problems, or special academic interests;
  • Employ flexibility and awareness of individual learning needs to ensure student success;
  • Participate in LRVC activities and engagements.

_ Skills and Qualifications:
_


  • Grade 12 Diploma or equivalency;
  • Minimum of 1 years' experience working in healthcare and a recognized diploma from an accredited institution;
  • Excellent public speaking skills;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is preferred
  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook;
  • Experience in a supervisory Healthcare position and/or teaching in a postsecondary Healthcare program is preferred;
  • Experience with or interest in Indigenous culture (with a focus on healthcare and education) is preferred;
  • Strong organization and leadership skills;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs and services is a definite asset; and,
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
