The primary focus for the Chiropodist will be to help patients eliminate foot pain, gain mobility and maintain healthy feet.

Chiropodists are primary care practitioners, who work independently within their own profession scope of practice.

They are responsible for the assessment of the foot and the treatment and prevention of diseases, disorders or dysfunctions of the foot by therapeutic, orthotic or palliative means.

Possible treatments include those of nail pathology, skin pathology, wound management, biomechanical dysfunction, and structural deformities, all pertaining to the foot.

As a member of the interdisciplinary team, you will:

Duties:


  • Complete health assessment through information gathering, lower extremity physical examination, patient health history and relevant clinical findings.
  • Evaluation of overall lower extremity foot and ankle function relating to activities of daily living.
  • Assessment of the impact of an injury, disability or disease (rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes, sprains, strains) on foot function.
  • Dealing with patients for lower extremity biomechanics, pathomechanics, sports and physical medicine and foot orthodic therapy related to assessing and managing acute and chronic diseases, disorders and dysfunctions structurally related to the foot.
  • Documenting clinical findings and intervention in the electronic health record (EHR).
  • Work in a manner that is in compliance with staff and patient/client safety practices, policies and procedures of The Royal.
  • Ensure a work environment that is conducive to the Royal's Anti-Racism, Harassment, & Discrimination Free Workplace Policy.

Qualifications:


  • Undergraduate degree in related field as well as a Diploma of Chiropody.
  • Registration with the college of Chiropodists of Ontario.
  • Membership with the Ontario Society of Chiropodists preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in a community and/or primary health care setting.
  • Refined basic soft tissue surgical techniques.
  • Excellent problem solving skills and expertise in the use of medical equipment as it pertain to the Chiropody scope of practice.
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment.
  • English level A in oral expression, oral comprehension, reading and writing is mandatory. Bilingual (French/English) is considered an asset.

Salary Range:

- $48.38 to $54.65 per hour
