Position Purpose

The primary responsibility of the District Sales Manager is to achieve share growth through coaching and leading a team of Trade Marketers to execute Sales and Marketing plans with excellence.

They also seek and identify business opportunities while working in the field or reviewing data. The District Sales Manager monitors performance of individual and team KPI's and proactively takes actions to achieve those goals.

They are responsible to develop and motivate their team, through effective coaching in the field, at team meetings and through 1-2-1 conversations.


Responsibilities
Planning

  • Ensure optimal call coverage based on trade segmentation and activities.
  • Develop short term tactical programs and longterm strategies.
  • Set individual and team objectives.
Execution

  • Present and manage the execution of monthly cycle plans.
  • Performance management (on the job, KPI tracking e.g. volume, coverage, distribution, visits, productivity, visibility, etc.).
  • Customer service (deal with customer issues, relationship building).
  • Administration tasks.
Business Information

  • Report team / individual KPIs.
  • Monitor & update the business on area of responsibility in terms of:
  • JTI
  • Competitors
  • Market & Consumer trends
  • Contractual agreements
People Development

  • Performance appraisal objectives / continuous feedback.
  • Succession Planning recommendations.
  • Help to develop individual annual training plans for direct reports.
  • On the job coaching.
Team Development

  • Motivation through clear direction and leading.
  • Empower team to act.
  • Recruitment process.
  • Training plan input and execution.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Postsecondary education;
  • Exceptional oral and written business communication skills;
  • A willingness to participate in decision making with regional management;
  • A full valid license is required (Tool of the Trade (company vehicle) will be included);
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with limited supervision;
  • Understanding of financial planning and time management;
  • Minimum 2 years experience in FMCG sales.

Skills, Competencies & Languages

  • Solid knowledge and skill level with Microsoft Office products;
  • French and English are mandatory;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Selling and negotiating skills;
  • Computer: Proficiency (office suite);
  • Good Coaching skills;
  • Good people management skills;
  • Good analytical skills (including JTI system e.g. TME);
  • Strong Commercial understanding.
