Overview_***Are you someone with strong leadership capabilities? Do you enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively in a team environment with both internal, external and global stakeholders? We are hiring a Claims Assistant in Toronto who will be responsible for providing strong administrative support to the Temple Claims Department.

Your job_**- Manage the New Claims Inbox, including receiving and distributing of all mail, electronically and hard copy.

  • Opening all new claims in the system, including verification of policy information and loading of all received documentation.
  • Download and disseminate special wire transfer payment requests to the appropriate Claims Specialist. Once approval has been attained, forward the request to Accounting.
  • Receive and process payments for examiners and for certain MGA clients, including thorough review of back up documentation.
  • Setting reserves, with accuracy, in the system.
  • Loading documents to the system.
  • Acknowledge Statement of Claims received from business partners.
  • Process received cheques (returned, subrogated interest or deductible recovery).
  • Loss runs are prepared and distributed to internal and external clients.
  • Respond to internal and external claims inquiries.
  • Manage the Claims portal.
  • Participate in crossfunctional initiatives and projects on behalf of Claims, at the request of SVP, Claims or VP, Temple Claims.
  • Promote a customer service orientation.
  • Assist with the development of system enhancements and operating process to expedite claims service.
  • Additional tasks/projects as required by SVP, Claims and VP, Temple Claims

Your profile_**- College or University degree preferred

  • Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation or progression towards the designation is not required, but preferred.
  • 2 years Multiline claims knowledge would be preferred but not required.
Specialized Knowledge and Skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills with business and general insurance acumen.
  • Excellent attention to detail is crucial.
  • Selfmotivated and highly organized with strong communication, interpersonal and time management skills.
  • Exceptional computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment and function well under pressure.
  • High degree of flexibility and adaptability to changing environment and situations.
